Red Square website

Moscow's Red Square is every bit as impressive as you hope it will be, and should be on the very top of every budding tourist's agenda. The walls of the Kremlin dominate one whole side of the square, whilst St. Basil's, the GUM Store and the State History Museum take up the other three. Actually on Red Square itself is Lenin's Mausoleum. This impressive granite tomb houses the preserved body of the socialist giant (actually he's fairly tiny), orginally for the purpose of inspiring precocious communists. Talk continues of choosing a final resting place for poor old Vladimir so take a peek whilst you still can. For more info on Red Square in general, check out the article on our website.

I was there in 1987 with a college group. It was different experience to say the least. I found this site wondering if it was still open to the public since the fall of Communism.

Magnificent architecture and steeped in history.. But the Lenin mausoleum, housing one of history's greatest, was the sobering and awesome highlight...

I was talking about the Mausoleum btw, not the whole Square - which you can walk around at leisure!

A moscow must! Lot's of queuing involved (you don't have to take a tour guide, just join the line down the bottom of the square), and you're in out in seconds, but its a surreal experience you won't forget!
