One Red Square

|
Not only does this restaurant boast one of the best addresses in the world, housed as it is inside the fantastic red-bricks and spires of the State History Museum, but it is surely the only place, even in Russia, where you can literally eat like a Tsar. The royal menu includes sturgeon in cherry sauce and the so-called 'Tsar-fish' - the sterlet - served in a vegetable necklace. The latter is the most expensive thing on the menu and is still a surprisingly affordable twenty odd quid. That can't be much more than a KFC family bucket in some cities! Tea served in samovars, a Borodin soundtrack and golden candlesticks complete your journey back to 19th Century Russia. |
