Countdown to the Film Festival
One of the brightest stars on Moscow's cultural calendar is the Moscow International Film Festival (23 June - 2 July), now in its 33rd year. This year's scheduled screenings and special events are better than ever, with films from across the world vying for the attention of the festival's jury.
Of course, apart from the festival's competition, there are also many other programmes worth investigating following themes such as: Focus on Italy, Made in Spain, Sex. Food. Culture. Glory., and 8 1/2 Films. Three retrospective programmes are also scheduled, dedicated to Werner Herzog, Sam Peckinpah, and Helen Mirren. Short films, documentaries, and multimedia performances are also on the cards for this year's edition of the film festival.
