The 18th Moscow International Book Fair (MIBF 2005) opened yesterday in Moscow, and will run until the 12th September.

The event, which grows in popularity every year, has attracted 3,000 companies from 54 countries to take part; and more than 100,000 books from each country, as well as every region of Russia, can be found at the fair.

As well as the exhibition of books the MIBF will be the site of business meetings, seminars, 'hob-nobbing', presentations and a special exposition entitled "Books Against Terrorism", examining the power of the written word to fight the global danger of terrorists.

Poland is the guest of honor at this year's exhibition.

The Fair is taking place at the All-Russia Exhibition Centre.
