Design duo of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana visited Moscow last week. The Dolce & Gabbana brand has long been viewed in Russian as a symbol of belonging to the high society. However, it was for the first time ever that the designers met their Russian fans. The Billionaire club that hosted the epoch-making rendezvous had eariler hurriedly refurbished the décor and even brought ice cubes of the size the designers wanted.
A week before the visit, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana sent D&G’s image director Barry Levit to Moscow. First of all, he set about the club where he asked to change the furniture, light-bulbs and even the size of ice cubes whose edges Mr. Levit personally measured to a millimeter. Yet, Dolce and Gabbana turned out to be nice, and even quite shy, men.
Once in Moscow, the famous Italian designers were met by numerous Russian D&G-clad celebrities, such as Marat Safin, Leonid Fridlyand, Alimzhan Tokhtakhunov, editor-in-chief of Russian Vogue Alena Doletskaya and Russia’GQ head Nikolay Uskov. Guests of the party at Billionaire had a kind of competition of the greatest number of Dolce & Gabbana’s items on one person. After the wild party at Billionaire, the Italians headed for the Three Monkeys gay club and, by the morning, decided to stay in Russian till Monday. |
