Smuggler caught red-handed
Police arrested a would-be smuggler last week after he tried to sneak through customs at Domodedovo airport with $150,000 worth of jewels.
The Russian citizen arrived from Sri Lanka with a hefty stash of rubies and emeralds and was apprehended when he tried to pass through the green channel, without declaring the goods.
On questioning, the man was forced to admit that he had attempted to smuggle the gems in a bid to maximise his profits.
The Police were acting on a tip-off.
