Pork thief rumbled by webcam

A couple living in a communal apartment in Moscow, set up a webcam to monitor the goings on in their shared kitchen after a number of their most succulent pork chops persistently went missing.

Their trap met with success, when they caught their fellow resident, Valery Fefelkin pilfering the choice cuts from the fridge.

Fefelkin and Andrei and Maria Osipov were among the residents of a communal apartment, or kommunalki - one of many Soviet-style living quarters that provide tennents with their own rooms, but have shared kitchen and bathroom facilities.

While Fefelkin was quick to claim that he took the Osipovs' pork chops by mistake, the unflinching eye of the webcam caught him wiping the refrigerator door down so he would not leave fingerprints.

A court sentenced Fefelkin to one year's community service.
