MOSCOW, April 4 (Itar-Tass) – Famous Russian movie-maker Pyotr Todorovsky received heavy injuries in a road accident on a highway 34 kilometers southeast off Moscow Tuesday, sources at the road police department of the Russian Foreign Ministry told Itar-Tass.

Todorovsky, who was driving a Toyota-RAF4 car, tried to pass a crossroads when the red light was on. His car collided with a Mercedes, a source said.

“Todorovsky got concussion of the brain, rib fractures, and numerous bruises,” he said adding that the man was rushed to an emergency ward in a hospital in the town of Vidnoye.

At the time of reporting, road police were still clarifying details of the accident.

Todorovsky, 79, was a director and/or screenplay writer of a number of movies loved by millions of Russians, including There Was The Month of May, Down The Main Street With A Band, The Last Victim, Mechanic Gavrilov’s Beloved Woman, and An Inter-Girl, one of the flagship movies of Perestroika times at the end of the 1980’s.

In 1984, his movie titled The Military Field Love story was nominated for the Academy award as the best Foreign Language movie.
