There aren't many walks of life where painting your face white, wearing stupidly-oversized shoes, and continually falling over in a comic manner will get you to the top of your profession. Luckily Yuri Nikulin found his niche. After enthralling the crowds for over 20 years (from 1960-83) as a clown, Yuri was made the Chief Producer of the Old Moscow Circus, later lending the establishment his name. But it's not all custard pies and capers at the Nikulin: inside the 2,000 seater venue, visitors are treated to dance, caberet, clowns, acrobats, performances with animals and in short all the dare-devilry and magic you might expect from one of the world's most famous circuses!
