Why not explore Russia's communist history at the same time as checking into your hotel? The Leningradskaya is the smallest of Stalin's infamous 'Seven Sisters', a group of giant skyscaper-palaces that were designed as a symbol of Soviet power and built in the aftermath of the 2nd World War. Opinions vary on whether they are wonders or monstrosities, but they are definitely points of interest, dominating the Moscow skyline as they do. Now owned by the Hilton Hotels group, it's become a luxury hotel. Its glory days as a palace for the people, and bargain basement rates, are as part of history as statues of Lenin. But at 136m tall the views over Moscow are spectacular.
