Why not explore Russia's communist history at the same time as checking into your hotel? The Leningradskaya is the smallest of Stalin's infamous 'Seven Sisters', a group of giant skyscaper-palaces that were designed as a symbol of Soviet power and built in the aftermath of the 2nd World War. Opinions vary on whether they are wonders or monstrosities, but they are definitely points of interest, dominating the Moscow skyline as they do. Despite the grandiose interiors the prices are surprisingly affordable (from 900 roubles a night) - but then again this hotel was built for the people! At 136m tall the views over Moscow are spectacular.
